Charlie is a Co-Owner of Talon Training and Watch Commander at the Leon County Sheriff's Office. He previously served as the Violent Crimes Lt. His experience in this field lends him a strong grasp for teaching response to violent encounters. Charlie currently holds certifications as an NRA Instructor, Florida K Firearms Instructor, and LEO firearms instructor, driving instructor, and defensive tactics instructor with Florida's Criminal Justice Standards Training Commission. He is also certified as an instructor from Taser International, and a Motorcycle Instructor from IPTM. Charlie is the agency armorer, former training Sergeant, and currently the SWAT Team Leader for the Sheriff's Office. He has attended schools in Prevention of Suicide Bomber, Improvised Explosive Devices, Tactical Entry School, Carlos Hathcock's White Feather Sniper School and an array of others. He was a sniper on the SWAT team for 8 years and coordinated training for SWAT. Charlie is a certified NRA Patrol Carbine Instructor and instructs Response to Active Shooter and other classes. He and JD write much of the Talon curriculum and most of the material for our videos. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration at Florida State University. He has been a law enforcement officer since 1990. He has written articles in a variety of subject and publishes the Talon Newsletter. He is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee, Class 29.
