Lead Instructors:

Charlie currently holds certifications as an NRA Instructor, Florida K Firearms Instructor, and LEO firearms instructor, driving instructor, and defensive tactics instructor with Florida's Criminal Justice Standards Training Commission. He is also certified as an instructor from Taser International, and a Motorcycle Instructor from IPTM. Charlie is the agency armorer, former training Sergeant, and the Assistant Team Leader for SWAT for a medium sized law enforcement agency in the state of Florida. He has attended schools in Prevention of Suicide Bomber, Improvised Explosive Devices, Tactical Entry School, Carlos Hathcock's White Feather Sniper School and an array of others. Charlie was a sniper on the SWAT team for 8 years and coordinates training for that team. Charlie is a certified NRA Patrol Carbine Instructor and co-instructs Response to Active Shooter and other classes. He and JD write the curriculum and most of the material for our videos and classes. Charlie holds a Masters in Business Administration at Florida State University. Charlie has been a law enforcement officer since 1990.

J.D. also holds instructor certificates from CJSTC in Firearms and Defensive Tactics. He is a very experienced instructor and has worked for two agencies in the Capital City area. He is an avid hunter for a wide array of game and has many skills related to this sport. J.D. is an armorer and serves as an active training officer at a local Sheriff's Office. He is also a certified Taser International Taser Instructor. J.D. attended Metro Dade's Officer Survival School and several advanced firearms instructor schools. He has also instructed Firearms Instructor Schools at Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy. JD is the lead reactive steel instructor and is well versed in the Bill Rogers Schools methodology. JD co-author much of our material with Charlie and others. JD has been a law enforcement officer since 1989.

John is also a CJSTC certified firearms instructor. He started in law enforcement in 2002, and has been an instructor for more than five years. John has served as a patrol officer, and an entry team member on the SWAT team. John has also been an avid competitive shooter for more than twelve years, amassing numerous class and division wins across the country competing in the US Practical Shooting Association. He competes in various disciplines utilizing handguns, rifles and shotguns, and strives to incorporate what he learns from competitive shooting into teaching self defense and tactics. John is a helicopter pilot and transfered from SWAT to the Aviation Unit at a local Sheriff's Office, but, continues to instruct. He brings a competitive shooting edge to the defense tactics taught at Talon. John teaches our IPSC classes and many of our Advanced Classes with JD.

Ronnie Greer

Ronnie is the Training Coordinator at a local Sheriff's Office and is an experienced Firearms, Driving and CPR/AED instructor. He has taught a number of active shooter classes and other firearms related classes over a span of a career.

Clay Fallis

Clay is a lead firearms instructor and the lead defensive tactics instructor at a local larger Police Department. He is an avid shooter and has been involved in the single action shooting sport in the past. He is trained extensively as a high liability instructor and holds almost every imaginable certification. He is a Master Taser Instructor and teaches in our advanced classes as well as helping in our basic curriculum. Clay is very knowledgable and imminently qualified. With over 20 years of law enforcement experience, much of that teaching, Clay is one of our key instuctors.

Georgia Northway

Georgia is one of our female instructors and is present at most of our basic classes. She is a NRA firearms instructor, a certified Defensive Tactics instructor, Taser Master Instructor, Stinger Systems instructor and holds a host of other certifications. She is employed in the training section at a local Sheriff's Office and coordinates the corrections training for the agency. As half of our students are women, she brings a perspective to the training and a view the men sometimes just don't get.

Morgan Wysocki

Morgan is a long time SWAT Entry Team member. He is an active and experienced firearms instructor and valued member of the Talon Group. Morgan has been on the SWAT team for the better part of a decade now and is very well schooled in the tactical mindset.

Others:

We use highly qualified and certified members of the law enforcement training community to help with our classes. Great personalities and helpful attitudes are key to our instructor success. We use current trainers that we have worked with and like. We know learning is more about listening and being open to the information presented and so, we don't use instructors that don't proved a positive learning environment.
